Training and development of workforce recognised by shortlisting at prestigious business awards

Paragon Toolmaking are delighted to have been shortlisted for another prestigious business award in recognition of our dedication to training and developing our workforce.

Having already collected the Manufacturing Apprenticeship & Training Scheme Award at Insider Media’s ‘Made in Yorkshire’ Awards 2021 in August, we have now been named a shortlisted finalist in the 2021 Hull Live Business Awards.

Being selected as a finalist in the Training and Development Award is another ringing endorsement of our commitment to helping our staff progress their careers.

The judges, Jan Brumby, chief executive of For Entrepreneurs Only ; Jo Barnes, managing director of Sewell Estates ; Benjamin Davis-Rice, managing director of headline sponsor Reach Resourcing and Bob Carroll, who has just retired from his global managing director role at Sonoco-Trident, were looking for organisations that could;

  • Demonstrate positive commitment to the ongoing training and education of employees.
  • Prove how investment in staff training has brought success.
  • Show that staff have gained the necessary skills to maximise their contribution.
  • Show how its people development strategies have improved its performance and created a committed, motivated and effective workforce.

Sponsored by East Riding College, we are finalists in the award alongside Hessle-based Giacom World Networks, with the winners to be announced at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Hull on November 18.

The glittering gala dinner event will be hosted by broadcaster Lucrezia Millarini. Co-founder of luxury chocolate brand Green & Black’s, Jo Fairley, is guest speaker.

Kevin Batty, General Manager of Paragon Toolmaking, said: “It is fantastic to again be shortlisted at a prestigious business awards event in recognition of the commitment we make to firstly helping people into a career in precision engineering, and then also developing their careers with a real focus on progression.

“We’ve got a great success story here at a Hull business which has been leading the way in its industry for more than 50 years.

“We are glad more people are now hearing about our success now through awards like this, as whilst we have many customers across the UK, we often find that people on our doorstep have been unaware of the toolmaking expertise we offer in the city.

“We look forward to another great night.”
